UMAMI UNITED raised Pre Seed funding 500k USD.
UMAMI UNITED, a Japan based plant-based egg company, raised Pre Seed funding 500k USD. The round was led by Big Idea Ventures with key investors including ProVeg International. Japan is the second-largest consumer of eggs per world capita while egg is the most common allergy (10% of children have egg allergy) in Japan. Since the outbreak of avian influenza, the demand for egg substitutes has surged due to soaring egg prices. The company is co-developing egg sandwich filling with the 2nd largest mayonnaise manufacturer in Japan, also in discussion with the Top school catering company to distribute UMAMI EGG using their network across Japan. With this funding, UMAMI plans to develop new products and accelerate sales in Japan and beyond.

Another key strength of the company's product lies in the versatility of the product. It comes in powder, once resuspended in water or soy milk can be made into a range of products, such as scrambled eggs, omelets; or incorporated into making desserts.
